Tucked away between picturesque meadows and forests off the beaten path, within the Krupina Plains, is where you’ll find us at Dobry Rocnik, Bed and Breakfast.

Just outside Senohrad (which literally translates to “Castle of Hay,” though within the Slovak language, there are many words with double meanings, hence Senohrad can also be seen as “Castle of Dreams"), which is precisely what we here, like to think of Dobry Rocnik, as our "Castle of Dreams."

Whilst we’re in translation mode, you ought to know that "Dobry Rocnik," means, “A Good Year,” in Slovak. Indeed, your mind may wander back to a 2006 film, of the same name, by Ridley Scott, starring Russel Crowe & Marion Cotillard.
Believe you me, this is absolutely no coincidence! In and of itself, Dobry Rocnik is practically a bible for not only wine connesieur’s, but, dreamers, artists, romantics, nature lovers…, alike- surely you’ll get a sense of that once you get here.

“Merlot & Saugvignon”
Depending on what you wish for whilst here, we have 2 fully kitted apartments-
'Merlot' has three rooms, housing seven guests, and
'Sauvignon' has two rooms housing four guests (as well as a pull out couch, if need be).

Both spaces are inclusive of a cozy open space kitchen & living room, bathroom, & free wifi, (microwave in Sauvignon only), as well as recycling bins.

“Frankovka & Tramin”
Our next option is for those in transit, who wish to literally, sleep, eat and run. We have a guest house, separate from the main quarters, though just as special, of course. ;)

Frankovka and Tramin, each a very airy and bright room, contain three single beds, housing a total of six people.

There are shared bathroom facilities on the ground floor – 2 showers (joint), and two separate toilettes, hair dryer, as well as a washing machine and a dryer.

As there isn't a kitchen within these quarters, breakfast is included--Miska's wonderful homemade delights, (with locally sourced ingredients), which is served in the dining hall, located in the main house.

Whether you decide to stay in Merlot, Sauvignon, Tramin or Frankovka, you'll be in for a treat as all rooms have large windows, purposefully planned to give you a view of the Enchanted Forest, which is literally Dobry Rocnik’s backyard.

Other things you might enjoy here?
A natural sauna perhaps? Heated by fire as opposed to electricity--the very real deal!
There's also a Finnish Bath we're getting ready to unveil, a little later in autumn.

There's plenty of lounge space on the deck, should you wish to sit outside during the day, entranced in a good book, or under the stars at night.

Finally, there’s Dobry Rocnik's obyvacka, (living room)- complete with a fireplace, bar and music system. What else could you ask for?...

About the Michaela & Pavol Strycek, and how Dobry Rocnik was born:

This is the kind of story that you read about every now and again, which makes your heart smile, and causes you to dream again, about your own wishes and desires.

A number of years ago Pavol, who was often on the road, told Michaela of a place that he was rather drawn to, out in the middle of nowhere. He'd driven by it time and time again, and late one night, whislt watching television, happened to catch the very place on a real estate channel.
He suggested to Michaela they see the place, and from the moment they entered, they were hooked.

Once upon a dream, Dobry Rocnik has turned into a reality for the pair, as what was once a weekend home, or a getaway for their family, has not only become their home, but also their heart. And so much so that not only do they open their doors to you, but their hearts also.
This magical place was meant to be shared, as you can’t help but find peace here.

Michaela, who'd opted to be at home, to raise two wonderful children, found herself a little out of sorts, when they both left home. She started to spend even more time here, (alone and surprisingly, completely at ease), until finally, she completely made the tranisition in 2011, leaving the capital-Bratislava, for the countryside, and together, she and Pavol established, "Dobry Rocnik."

Officially, this is their first year of operation, (2014), and whilst Pavol still travels from time to time, this little cozy BnB, has become not only Michaela's baby, but her dream come true.

That’s no word of a lie, she’s literally sunshine. It’s in her blood, to be of service to others, and ensure for the best stay possible.
